Forever Yours

Prologue:

Everything that happened in the first 5 years of Buffy The Vampire Slayer has taken place, except these few changes.

Buffy met Tara in college and they fell in love and are a strong couple. Spike was implanted with the chip, he was actually thankful for it, though he never spoke of it. It has allowed him and Willow to become close friends, he gets along with everyone now as a matter a fact, even Buffy. But from time to time, they occasionally have their disputes, like he does with everyone.

Spike never fell in love with Buffy, instead he started developing feelings for Willow a few months ago, but never acted upon them in fear of loosing the friendship they’ve developed. They were able to defeat Glory with out Buffy having to sacrifice herself. So, she is still alive.

Willow has been recently working on a way to remove Spike’s chip for him, only Dawn knows and has been helping her with the research. When researching one night, exactly two weeks ago, a song had come on the radio and she realized then that she had fallen in love with the blond vampire. She hasn’t told Spike how she feels yet and the others don’t know to her knowledge.

We meet up with the gang at the beginning of season 6.
**Note: I did use original dialog from S6, Ep1: ‘The Bargaining’.**

Part 1:

The soft pounding of feet running through the darkness of the night could be heard in the graveyard as a large, vampire darted steadily between the headstones. Spike is hot on his tail with Tara and Giles trailing behind, carrying an axe. They come up to a fence and the vampire is gone.

“I'm never gonna get anything killed with you lot holding me back,” Spike shouts in aggravation.

“I thought the big ones were supposed to tire more easily,” Tara pants softly.

“No, that's over-the-hill shopkeepers,” Spike points to Giles as the watcher leans against a gravestone.

“I'm fine. I just need to ... to die for a minute,” Giles says trying to catch his breath.

Spike turns to Tara, “It was that powder you blew at him made him rabbit off.”

“It's sorbis root, it was supposed to confuse him, but …”

“It just kinda made him hyper,” Buffy finishes for her as she comes to stand next to her girlfriend. “Think we can shoot a couple Riddlin pills into his mouth?” She jokes making Spike roll his eyes. “Does Riddlin actually work on….”

“Guys, heads up,” Willow communicates with them telepathically. They all look up at her standing atop of a large crypt about ten feet away. “The vampire's circling back towards you, six o'clock.”

The four of them turn their heads looking around for the vamp.

“Try to drive him back towards the Van Elton crypt,” Willow advises.

“Van Elton…right, what one is that again?” Buffy asks.

“Is that the one with the cute little gargoyles?” Tara asks aloud.

The vampire spots them as he runs back into their view, quickly he turns around going back from where he came.

Willow sees him escaping, “Left, make him go left!”

“Dissolvo!“ Tara extends her hand, sending out a ball of light blue energy towards the vampire. The blast of magic hits a tree beside the vampire’s face making him turn left. Buffy, Spike, and Giles look at the blonde witch with surprise.

“What?” she asks with a slight shrug, blushing a little, “h-he went left didn’t he?”

Without another word they chase after the vampire. Spike smirks as they catch up with the demon coming to a dead-end. Spike gets up to him punching him twice in the face, As he was going in for another hit the vamp head-butts him. The vampire growls and tries to escape as the blond staggers back, only to be knocked to the ground with Buffy‘s fist.

“Big, fast, and dumb. Just the way I like them,” she smirks before pulling out her stake and dusting him. Spike slowly gets to his feet spitting out blood that seeped into his mouth from his busted lip.

“Spike , you ok?” Willow asks.

“’m fine, pet. How’s the whelp and demon girl holdin’ up?” he looks up at her.

Willow searches the ground for her friends and spies them running off to the distance.

“Xander, Anya, stop!”

Xander and Anya stop running slightly out of breath, startled.

“Great googly-moogly, Willow, would you quit doing that? I saw ‘The Fury‘ and that way lies spooky carnival death,” Xander says out loud.

“It's kind of intrusive. You could knock first or something,” Anya suggests.

Willow rolls her eyes and notices a vampire hiding, “Xander! Vampire! Other side of that tomb. You can get the jump on him if you go the other way.”

Xander glances toward the tomb, “Why didn't you just say so?” They take off to the other side of the grave.

“Vampire other side of the graveyard…help them,” Willow alerts Spike and Giles. The chipped vampire nods as he and the watcher take off, arriving just in time to see Xander fly through the air into Anya after the vampire punched him. Giles runs up to the demon raising his axe only to be shoved against the wooden fence beside him.

“Spike!” Giles wheezes as the handle of the axe presses against his wind pipe, held by the offending vampire.

Spike taps the vampire on the shoulder a couple times, trying to get his attention. Unsuccessful in his task, he steps back and sighs taking out his cigarettes then placing one between his lips.

“What are you doing? Help him!” Willow watches fully of worry.

Spike lights his cigarette, “I did.”

The back of the vampire’s shirt lights on fire and spreads to the rest of it as he lets go of Giles. He staggers back bursting completely into flames before he combusts into ashes.

Giles ducks his head under his arm as the dust showers over him, lightly coughing. Spike moseys over to the watcher and holds out his hand, taking a drag from his cigarette.

“You might have let me in on your plan while he throttled me,” Giles takes the offered hand staggering to his feet.

“Oh, poor Watcher. Did your life pass before your eyes? Cuppa tea, cuppa tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea?” Spike smirks.

Buffy walks up to Xander helping him to his feet as Tara helps Anya. The two men walk over to them.

“I think we got ‘em all. I don’t see anymore,” Willow confirms, her eyes doing one last sweep of the cemetery.

“Thank goodness. I’m beat,” Buffy sighs happily taking Tara’s hand as the group starts walking towards the entrance of the graveyard ready to go home .

“I can’t believe it, twenty vamps in one night and why am I the one who always finds the nests?” Xander whines as he remembers walking into the vampires’ crypt, thinking that he and Anya could sneak away for some patrol hanky-panky.

Buffy laughs softly before glancing up at Willow. Her eyes widen in horror.

“Willow!” the slayer calls to warn her, in-turn causing Spike to look up at the witch.

Willow’s eyes dart over to her friends. She immediately freezes in fear as an arm comes up from behind wrapping around her chest. The cloak covered figure harshly thrusts a knife into her back. Willow opens her mouth to scream in pain but nothing comes out.

“Nooo!” Buffy screams, running as fast as her supernatural speed could take her, the rest following after her. Spike had taken off moments before, already a few feet ahead of Buffy, using as much strength as he could muster to get to the redhead.

The jagged knife slides out of Willow’s back and returns once more a few inches apart from the first laceration, before getting driven home in her side with a ruthless twist. The figure releases her slowly pulling out the blade. Turning around to face her attacker, the redhead’s face twinges in pain. Holding her side she becomes dizzy and takes a step back, slipping off the edge of the crypt.

Spike arrives just in time to catch Willow in his arms. Carefully, he lays her down in the damp grass, supporting the upper half of her body in his lap, arm behind her head. His nostrils flare as the thick smell of her blood wafts through the air.

“Spike?…” Willow whispers softly, her eyes locking with his.

“I’m ‘ere, pet,” he peers back into her fading green eyes. Worry consumes him as her heart begins to slow, beating at an unhealthy rate. He tenderly moves her hand from her side to see the damage, wincing a little when he sees the injury. Her hand is completely covered in blood that has soaked through her clothes.

“It hurts,” she breathes with difficulty. The others finally arrive at the scene. It felt like hours had past but in actuality it had only been seconds.

“We need to get her to a hospital, now,” Buffy says taking charge bending down next to the redhead. Spike shakes his head still watching Willow.

“She won’t make it there…” he says softly. He vamps slitting his wrist with his fangs. Damn it he was NOT loosing her. Buffy wanted to push him away, wanted to stop him from what he was about to do but she couldn‘t move. The four bystanders watch in shock and disbelief at the events unraveling before them.

Spike places the open vein over Willow’s mouth letting a couple drops fall onto her pale lips.

Willow takes her last breath, dying in his arms still staring up at him. It had been too late to save any part of her, the abrasions too deep and severe.

“No…wake up Willow…” Spike pleads, his eyes wide, lightly shaking her in one last effort to keep her alive. “Don’t do this to me.”

“No,” Xander whispers, shaking his head he places a trembling hand over his mouth. Tara’s lips quiver taking in the dead body of her friend as Buffy swallows the lump in her throat slowly closing her eyes and a tear falls onto her cheek. Giles stands there in silent devastation.

“God, Red, please…please wake up,” tears wield up in vampire’s eyes as he continued to hold Willow’s body, rocking her back in forth delicately. After a moment he kisses her forehead, placing the tips of his fingers over her eyelids closing them. Giles stands behind him putting a hand on his shoulder. The vampire starts sobbing, laying his forehead upon the redhead’s. “Please…”
